Seminars

Seminars at the chair of Business Taxation/Auditing are offered as follows:

Summer semester: Bachelor seminar(s)

Winter semester: Master seminar(s)

The seminar topics will be announced to the seminar participants by e-mail. It is possible to choose preferred topics. Preferences will be taken into account as far as possible; in the case of multiple selections, the decision will be made by drawing lots. The seminars take place in blocks on dates in the middle and at the end of each semester. Exact information on dates and further organisational details will be announced in advance. The examination consist of the submitted seminar paper and its presentation including discussion. In addition, a presentation must be given, that refers to the topic of a main presentation.

  • Bachelor seminar(s)

    Bachelor seminars will be offered in the summer semester. Information on the procedure and the assignment of topics will be announced by e-mail at the beginning of the semester.

    Please register for the Bachelor's seminar by emailing the chair's Administrative Assistant (sekretariat.steuern@uni-jena.de), stating the module (BW 14.3), your name and student ID number.

  • Master seminar(s)

    Master seminars at the chair of Business Taxation/Auditing are offered in the winter semester.

Final Theses

  • Bachelor theses

    Registration

    • To register for a Bachelor's thesis take note of the requirements listed below and select a topic area 
    • To register your Bachelor's thesis in the summer term, please send your chosen topic to the Administrative Assistant (sekretariat.steuern@uni-jena.de) by 30 April (31 October for the winter term).
    • Your e-mail should also contain information about the modules you have already attended at our chair, the number of semesters you have attended and your specific planned registration date. You should also include a half-page abstract (approx. 200 words) which unfolds the main issues to investigate.
    • After you have been accepted as a candidate, you will receive basic literature on your topic. The exact formulation of the topic and the main focus will be agreed with your supervisor shortly before registration.

    Requirements

    • The requirements for writing a bachelor's dissertation at our chair are successful participation in the Specialisation Module Taxes (BW 14.2) and a bachelor's seminar in FAcT specialisation.
    • Successful participation in the Specialisation Module Auditing (BW 14.5) and the Bachelor's seminar in Taxes/Auditing (BW 14.3) is recommended.
  • Master theses

    Registration

    • If you are interested in writing a Master's thesis, please contact us as early as possible by e-mail at sekretariat.steuern@uni-jena.de(if possible approx. 6 months before the intended start date of the Master's thesis) and take into account the requirements listed below.
    • In your e-mail, please state the period to prepare your Master's thesis as well as an initial topic that can be categorised within the research fields of our chair (e.g. tax planning, tax effects, tax accounting, economic analysis of tax law).
    • In your e-mail, please also state the modules you have already attended at our chair and your semester of study.
    • If you contact us at an early stage, we will provide some introducing literature to prepare in advance before starting the thesis.
    • In addition, please make sure that you indicate our chair as your highest preference if the Master's thesis is assigned centrally.

    Requirements

    • A necessary requirement is successful participation in the module Tax Effects and Tax Planning (MW 14.2) or the module Tax Accounting (MW 14.5) or the module Auditing (MW 14.6).
