Image: Bjarke MacCarthySince 2023, Prof. Dr. Michael Wessel holds the Chair for Business Information Systems, esp. E-Commerce and Digital Business. He is also an Associate Professor at the Department of Digitalization at Copenhagen Business School and received his doctorate from the Technical University of Darmstadt in 2016.
His current research projects, which are mainly empirical and quantitative, include the management of digital platforms, the design of consumer-oriented e-commerce solutions, the development of digital and data-based business models, the potential of digital entrepreneurship, and the interaction between humans and AI/algorithms.

Professor Wessel is the author and co-author of numerous articles in international journals such as the Journal of Management Information Systems, the Information Systems Journal, the Journal of Information Technology, Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, the Journal of Business Venturing, Decision Support Systems and Electronic Markets. He has also published in the proceedings of international conferences such as the International Conference on Information Systems and the European Conference on Information Systems.
