Prof. Dr. Michael Wessel

Prof. Dr. Michael Wessel ist seit 2023 Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Wirtschaftsinformatik, insb. E-Commerce und Digital Business, und Associate Professor am Department of Digitalization der Copenhagen Business School. Er wurde 2016 an der Technischen Universität Darmstadt promoviert.

Aktuelle Schwerpunkte seiner primär empirisch-quantitativ ausgerichteten Forschungsprojekte sind u.a. das Management digitaler Plattformen, die Gestaltung konsumentenorientierter E-Commerce-Lösungen, die Entwicklung digitaler und datenbasierter Geschäftsmodelle, die Potenziale digitalen Unternehmertums sowie die Interaktion zwischen Mensch und KI/Algorithmen.

In der Lehre deckt Professor Wessel die Wirtschaftsinformatik in ihrer gesamten thematischen Breite ab und bietet vertiefende Veranstaltungen zu den Schwerpunktthemen E-Commerce und Digital Business an.

Professor Wessel war Gastwissenschaftler an verschiedenen Instituten, unter anderem am Alexander von Humboldt Institut für Internet und Gesellschaft (HIIG) und am Weizenbaum-Institut.

Forschung

Professor Wessel ist Autor bzw. Koautor zahlreicher Artikel in internationalen Fachzeitschriften wie dem Journal of Management Information Systems, dem Information Systems Journal, dem Journal of Information Technology, Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, dem Journal of Business Venturing, Decision Support Systems und Electronic Markets. Darüber hinaus hat er in den Tagungsbänden internationaler Konferenzen wie der International Conference on Information Systems und der European Conference on Information Systems publiziert.
