This module is offered every second semester (starting in the summer semester)!

Contents:
Economic foundations of digital products and services; business and revenue models in e-commerce; environmental aspects and sustainability in e-commerce; technical functioning of e-commerce solutions; customer behavior and experience in online retail; mobile commerce and social media; personalization and recommendation systems; e-commerce analytics and search engine optimization; legal and technical security in e-commerce; digital nudging and ethical issues.

Learning and qualification objectives:
After successful participation, students are able to

  • explain the technical and business administration fundamentals of e-commerce,
  • assess the challenges for companies in e-commerce and develop approaches to address these challenges based on the content taught,
  • evaluate the potential of business ideas in e-commerce.

Examination format:
Completion, submission, and, where applicable, presentation of exercise assignments (also in small groups) (approx. 30%) and written examination during the examination period (approx. 70%). The exact weighting of the components in the overall grade will be announced at the beginning of the module. Both components must be passed individually. Participation in the written examination is therefore only possible if the exercise assignments have been successfully completed. In the event of a possible retake of the written examination, the performance from the exercise assignments will be credited.
