Presentation by Prof. Dr. Patrick Spieth in the Jena Economic Research Seminar

On May 20, Prof. Dr. Patrick Spieth from the University of Kassel visited our chair and presented an overview of more than ten years of research in the field of business model innovation in the Jena Economic Research Seminar. In his presentation entitled “Business Model Innovation: Rethinking Value Creation in an Era of Disruption”, Prof. Dr. Spieth showed how business model research has evolved from describing the basic dimensions of business models — including value offering, value architecture, and revenue models — toward understanding how firms redesign these dimensions in response to technological change, market shifts, and broader disruption.

The visit also provided an opportunity to advance ongoing joint research, in particular the current research project “Artificial Intelligence as a Driver of Business Model Innovation: An Investigation of Firm-Level Capabilities” by Emilie Holley, Prof. Dr. Matthias Menter, and Prof. Dr. Patrick Spieth.
