We are pleased to announce the publication of Research in the Sociology of Organizations, Volume 101, “Reinterpreting Multinational Enterprises through a Revitalized Transnational Social Space Perspective.”

The volume advances and extends the transnational social space approach to examine the role of multinational enterprises (MNEs) in addressing grand challenges. The contributions broaden theoretical and disciplinary perspectives and expand empirical inquiry beyond contexts in which the MNE is the primary unit of analysis. Collectively, the chapters analyze how, when, and why MNEs shape - and at times distort - transnational social spaces, positioning them as both potential contributors to and agents of grand challenges.

The RSO-Volume contains eleven chapters, including the introductory chapter by Mike Geppert with Ödül Bozkurt and Christoph Dörrenbächer, plus a chapter on “The Failure of the International Business Discipline to Revitalize the Understanding of the Multinational Enterprise: The Example of the Global Factory Approach” by Mike Geppert with Christoph Dörrenbächer.
