Last Friday, 06 February, the UIW team attended the Deep Tech Startup Community Night hosted by the Startup Factory boOst. The event celebrated the official launch of boOst’s Tech Incubator and welcomed the first cohort of startup teams who are now beginning their journey from cutting-edge research to entrepreneurial ventures.

The evening brought together a diverse group of ecosystem actors from Saxony and Thuringia, including founders, researchers, representatives from universities, mentors, industry partners, and supporters of the regional startup scene. In a lively and open setting, participants had the opportunity to learn more about the newly selected deep tech teams, who are working on advanced technologies in areas such as semiconductors, sensor technologies, new materials, health technologies, and biotechnology. The projects demonstrated how scientific and technological innovation can be translated into concrete entrepreneurial solutions with societal and economic impact.

For the UIW chair, the event was a valuable occasion to engage in dialogue with key stakeholders from the regional innovation ecosystem, exchange perspectives on current challenges and opportunities in deep tech entrepreneurship, and explore potential synergies between research, teaching, and startup support. The community night highlighted the importance of close collaboration between universities, research institutions, startups, and industry partners in strengthening transfer and innovation pathways.
