The System of Innovation in Jena

Uwe Cantner, Holger Graf

Abstract
In the context of regional clustering of science and technology relevant firms and institutions the case of Jena will be examined. The research focus is on the interaction between the local actors as well as the interaction with external actors. Firm-level data, currently being surveyed, is used to identify the major modes of interaction and knowledge exchange in Jena, while German patent data are used to compare the innovative performance and degree of interaction with other localities.
